Our high-energy burst-mode lasers have revolutionized ultra-fast, multi-dimensional diagnostics for dynamic and transient phenomena in both reacting and non-reacting flows. Their MOPA (master oscillator power amplifier) architecture offers flexibility in pulse shaping and frequency tuning across a broad electromagnetic spectrum. Over the past 50 years, these lasers have advanced to deliver pulse widths from 250 femtoseconds to 50 microseconds, burst durations up to 0.1 seconds, pulse energies up to 2 joules, and repetition rates up to 5 MHz. This has enabled a wide range of diagnostic techniques, including linear (e.g., laser-induced fluorescence, particle image velocimetry), nonlinear (e.g., coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering), and multi-dimensional imaging from 2D to 4D (3D + time). Specialized features like multi-pulsing, wavelength tuning, and hybrid pulsewidths further enhance measurement capabilities. Ongoing innovations in laser design and modeling continue to expand their use in extreme environments such as hypersonics, detonations, and high-pressure combustion
