Scientists at Spectral Energies have developed and implemented laser-based diagnostics for thermal-fluid analysis in a range of propulsion applications, including augmentors, combustors, compressors, hypersonics, and turbines (see additional details in sidebar menu). This includes planar laser-induced fluorescence, diode laser absorption spectroscopy, laser-induced incandescence, phase-Doppler anemometry, particle-image velocimetry, Mie scattering, and coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering. In many cases, we have implemented these measurements at kHz rates. These measurements are critical for advanced model validation and have assisted in the design and reliable operation of future propulsion systems.
